- Access at both ends: Dublin’s Georgian terraces and city-centre apartments, and narrow rural lanes further out, all need thought, as does access at your Essex property.
- The route: Holyhead to Dublin for the east, or Pembroke and Fishguard to Rosslare for Cork and the south, whichever suits your destination.
- Customs paperwork: since Brexit, a move from Great Britain to the Republic of Ireland is a customs import, even though the two feel close. Most people moving their main home bring belongings in free of import duty and VAT under the EU transfer-of-residence relief, applied by Irish Revenue, as long as you are moving your main home and meet the conditions.
